Today, all sections will be in the library. Students should focus on ensuring that their two articles (about how their theme is displayed in real life) are found and saved somewhere so that they may access these articles in class. They should try to save Works Cited information as well. They should work on Assignments 2-4 inasmuch as they can as these will be due at the end of class Thursday and will require the use of these articles.

Today, all sections will have a substitute. Only first hour will be interrupted due to SPUD activities. First, students should work on a paraphrasing packet (attached below; those who do not finish today will have opportunities to finish this before the end of the week). Then, students should continue working on Assignment 4 (from Friday). ![]()
Third, fourth, and fifth hours were largely interrupted by SPUD events. Students who were present would have worked on Assignment #4, which required them to have a book and to pull quotes. This assignment is due next Thursday at the end of class. I did a book check for first, third, and sixth hours, and will re-check next Wednesday. ![]()
Today, students worked on Assignments 2 and 3 in class for the research paper. We went over Turnitin.com troubleshooting and also research troubleshooting. These assignments are due next Thursday. ![]()

Today, all classes went over MLA format, using and enrolling in Turnitin.com, and using Google Docs, in addition to the specifics of Assignment #1 due tonight by 11:59 pm to Turnitin. Students can find the enrollment information here, and they should look up the Purdue OWL's MLA section to help with format (on Monday's post--Assignment #1 is on Monday's post as well). ****If a student is already enrolled in Turnitin but switched hours, he/she may still submit to their old section.
Today we were able to get an extra day in the library, so Mrs. Garrett showed us all how to use Google Drive/Docs and the Norman North Library Databases. We looked at EbscoHost and the Gale Virtual Reference Library. The username and password for the former is Normannps; for GVRL, the remote password is norman.
For the databases, go to: http://www.norman.k12.ok.us/ Search under "Staff" and click Library 24/7. Click on Norman North High School; then, click Norman North Library on the following page. On the right-hand side of the next page, you will find the links to the databases. You can email yourself the links to the articles you like, and you can also find the MLA citation written out for you on those databases for each article. It's a great resource! Drive.google.com will lead you to Google Docs. You should sign in with your school username/email and password (remember: your school email ends in @student.norman.k12.ok.us). Welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break. Today, all classes but 1st hour (during which the SPUD Week Opening Assembly took place) met in the library and continued work on the handout attached. Assignment #1 at the bottom is due to Turnitin.com on Wednesday the 25th. We will review MLA and how to access Turnitin.com in class on Wednesday. You can find MLA directions here at the Purdue OWL, though. ![]()
All students will meet in the library to begin research paper brainstorming using Chromebooks. There is no homework over the break with the exception of finding a copy of the book or story they intend to use for their research paper. Have a wonderful Spring Break! (There is no school Friday--some students will be meeting for conferences with their advisers regarding next year's schedules.)
Today, all students will take the Romeo and Juliet exam. Absent students should plan to make this up after the break. If a student finishes early, he or she should work on other homework or read silently.
Please see yesterday's post for the Romeo and Juliet exam study guide; we will complete and go over this today. If time allows, we will play a Jeopardy review game of Romeo and Juliet. The exam is tomorrow and students should bring something to read or work on if they anticipate finishing early.
