I will be at the Mental Health First Aid Training offered by the district all day today, so all sections will have a substitute. Students need to finish reading Act IV and turn in yesterday's Act IV study questions. Then, students should complete the persuasive letter (attached). This will be a significant writing projects grade and as such it should be taken seriously. It is due at the start of class Monday. ![]()

Today, all sections took the Act III quiz. Then, they began reading Act IV and answering the study questions (see attached below). These will be due tomorrow. ![]()
Today, students worked on review for their Act III quiz tomorrow (Thursday). Both today's double-sided handout and the Act III study questions will be due for a grade tomorrow before the quiz. The double-sided handout contains pages 13 and 14 from the packet attached below. ![]()
There was no school today due to weather.
Today, students were to complete the Sentence Combining handouts 1-2 (only for first hour) and write on their handouts also a book or story they might be interested in using for our research paper and a couple of topics that the work and current events/society share that could be developed into a greater theme. There will be more information to come about the research paper. Please see last week's posts for the "Sentence Combining" packet attachment where the worksheets can be found. Credit will be given both for turning in and completing the handouts and for selecting a book and potential topics.
NOTE: Only 1st hour had to do this assignment. Third-sixth hours had so few students due to excused absences from the weather that it would have been unfair to assign work. On Thursday, we completed the first two scenes of Act III audio and study questions. We completed the last three scenes of Act III on Friday. ![]()
Today, students will begin class with their Act II quiz. Upon finishing their quizzes, they should finish yesterday's characterization handout and turn it in, picking up a study questions sheet at the same time. Then, they should begin reading Act III. They should strive to be through scene 2 and its accompanying study questions. The handout they will receive is attached below. ![]()
Monday there was no school. Today, we began class by reviewing Friday's PowerPoint for the quiz. Then, we did a complex sentences exercise (the first two activities in the first packet below). Then, we did a characterization handout that they may finish after the quiz tomorrow if need be. The "Romeo's Busy Day" handout is worth a couple of extra points on the quiz if students choose to fill it out in complete sentences. ![]()

Today, all sections went over the attached PowerPoint with answers for both study guides since I did not have a strong enough voice to discuss the answers aloud. The end of the presentation has additional questions for quiz review. The Act II quiz will be next Wednesday. ![]()
Today, students finished their first study guides and turned them in for credit. Then, they continued working on the fill-in study guides which were due at the start of class Friday for a completion grade. See previous days for the handouts/attachments.
