Today's agenda: 1) finish and go over Friday's activity for "The Writer" and "The Boy at the Window"; 2) clarify rhythm vs. meter and strive to understand why, in Friday's activity, there was a rhythm but not a strict meter (syllable count makes it so that the "feet" in the meter are not consistent or all the same); 3) view the Prologue for Romeo and Juliet and understand how it is actually a Shakespearean sonnet; 4) DIY Shakespearean sonnets (this will likely take more than one day).

Directions for sonnet: Follow the ABABCDCDEFEFGG rhyme scheme and have 10 syllables per line (14 lines total). Strive to write in iambic pentameter. Your goal is to create your own original sonnet--school appropriate content is required, of course.
