| Today, students were informed of their Short Stories Unit Exam that will be on Monday, October 20th. All sections reviewed the literary terms, MLA formatting, and paragraph organization that will be on the exam. Students should also know a basic overview of each short story. The goal of this exam is not to require students to remember minute details from stories they read weeks ago, but rather to allow students to demonstrate their mastery of the skills that they gained through studying the short stories. These skills will be used throughout the year in other units. On Friday, students will receive a "reminder" list detailing the ideal focus for their review. Additional resources for review can be found under the "Resources" tab of this website. I have also posted a copy of the PowerPoints covered today with this post. After the review, students were given time to read "Harrison Bergeron" and complete a five-sentence paragraph over theme in said story. Students in 1st and 3rd hour may turn this in through Thursday and students in 4th-6th hours may turn this in through Wednesday without it being late. Students who finished these activities could begin reading the Preface and Introduction of Animal Farm and read even further if they chose. Students also received picture day flyers today. Picture day is this coming Thursday. |
