Tuesday, students had all class to read chapters 7-8 and complete the study guides (see Monday's blog for attachments). These study guides were due to turn in Thursday the 12th (today!).
Wednesday, we discussed allegorical connections between Soviet history and chapters 7-8. Powerpoints are attached, as are links, that cover this. The videos we watched are attached in a link also. The first video will play through to two more about Stalin, show trials, and purges.
Thursday, students received chapters 9-10 study guides that will not be due until Monday the 16th. The assignment for today is to finish the book in its entirety, even if it must be completed at home (aka finish chapters 9 and 10).
Hen Revolt, representing the targeting of the Kulaks
Battle of the Windmill=World War II invasion of USSR by Germany
Killing of pigs and confessions=show trials and purges
